Ember Study is the quietest kind of fire — not the flame, but the hour after, when the heat is in the coals and the room still glows. Real ash from the studio woodstove is worked into the surface so the painting carries a literal trace of the thing it's about.

Endings get a bad reputation. An ember is just a beginning that's learned some patience.
